Re: No carbs is not the solution in my opinion

I cut back on carbs, the heavy ones, such as corn, potatoes, and anything in the bean family, and I've always eaten whole grains anyways, not white processed. But my diet is definitely not real low in carbs. It works for some people, but I don't believe it is healthy for me. I also added extra protein to my meals by making sure I have eggs, very lean meat, fish, or non-fat dairy along with the rest of my meals. I get my fats from omega 3/6 type sources. I began drinking a soy protein drink suggested by my doctor as a staple for most of my lunches and it makes me feel great and energetic. As far as weight goes, my main goal was to be healthy first, and get my weight to at least stabalize. I was successful with that, and now I am losing a little weight and inches every so slowly.

I tried vegetarianism for awhile many years ago and it made me feel very ill, and seemed to increase my weight gain and frequency of hypoglycemic episodes, probably because of the high carb content, yet I did not know I was insulin resistant at the time. So I won't be trying that again.

I guess the bottom line is whatever works, keeps you in ultimate health, and what makes you feel good.
