No carbs is not the solution in my opinionFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 2 Jun 2003 12:10:47 -0500 (CDT)
Dear Ladies, Everyone on the forum talks about low-carb / no-carb. Here are some things I am thinking about: - First of all I cannot do a totally low-carb diet as I am vegetarian and therefore no meat. What else is left? One can't live on nuts! So I try to incorporate all the necessary protein, fiber, eat plenty of veggies, some dairy for protein. We don't have any form of refined flour intake (all whole wheat - lots of research into low fat, low calorie wheat breads etc). - Secondly, what I have learnt is piling on the meat and fats (like in Atkins diet .. seen from TV & stuff, haven't researched) is not good in the long term. I know us PCO'ers have been struggling like anything and anything that will shed the weight is an attractive solution. - Lastly, I have read that at the time of conceiving it is very important to have adequate nutrition and carb intake. Lately I have seen a lot of negative information about SOY and its harmful effects especially due to phytoestrogens. Comments? Thoughts??
