Re: I think I have PCOSFrom: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 2 Jun 2003 09:03:07 -0400
Hi Tammy Well I know of some tests that the do. They do the glucose test the one where you have to drink the nasty drink and have your blood drawn every hour for 3 hours. That helps them determine your blood sugar levels. And I also know that they check your testosterone level. I know they did a lot more test but those are the only ones I can remember. I have not had a laproscopy yet but I have heard that they can tell if your ovaries are polycyctic because they have a hard white shell around them. I am going to see my doc on June 18th and I am going to ask him about this and let you know. I totally understand about the whole wrong people getting what we want. I just had a situation like that. My husbands best friend got a girl preg last year not married no jobs she already had on kid with another guy. Living in her parents rental apts not paying on welfare all that good stuff. A total not wanted preg and her I am married to a wonderful man with my own house a good job good car and can't get the one thing I have waited for my whole life a child of my own. So I totally understand. I am 27 years old and i have Endometriosis , I was diagnosed with it when i was 17 . I have been struggling to get pregnant for a long time now . Been in a commited realationship for 9 years , never became pregnant ...my periods dont come very often . And it is so hard for me to deal with the fact that i might never concieve due to the side effects of Endo ...now i am extremly concerned that i might have PCOS also . SO that makes my chances of conceiving twice as slim . I cant go to my doctor till possibly Jan of 2004 . Because my I had a problem with my insurance kicking in this last year. And I cant right now afford to go see him without insurance. The hardest thing for me to deal wiht is the infertility ...i would be such a good mother . It kills me casue there are so many people out there whom have kid after kid and dont care for them like they should ..why does this happen to all the good people? . I want to someday be able to hold my own baby ... its just not fair . I am sorry just needed to vent somewhere I guess its somthing i dont really get a chance to do . Its easier to push it out of your mind and not think about it than to think about it and get depressed and angry. But i do have a question that i couldnt seem to find the answer to ... what kind of tests does the doctor do to determine you have PCOS? I know for my Endometriosis I had to have a laproscopy done ..Just what do they do to check for PCOS? Anyone whom would like to talk please feel free to e-mail me . Thanks , Tammy
