Re: Anyone from the UK?, I have some questions.From: Mel (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 2 Jun 2003 06:17:09 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Lin I am in the UK, based in Surrey. My GP actually perscribes Met as standard treatment after testing for IR, it really depends on your practice and how open minded they are. I have private medical cover, so I was referred by my GP. However, I called Bupa before hand and asked for a list of specialists in my area, and discussed them with my GP before I made an appointment ( my previous specialists was a really unpleasant man and i was not go=ing down that road again)If you go to your GP armed with facts and studies to back up your reasoning for wanting to try Met, it may help I follow sugar busters diet and find that you can get low carb food in health food shops. Saying that, i try to eat few carbs and then only complex carbs. It has been a great wieght loss boost for me ( 2 dress sizes and counting). I have also founf acupuncture helpfull. I have my second appoointment this week, it has boosted my energy and reduced my apetite already after one session and I am far less crabby with dh. I hope this helps, good luck! Take great care
