I did Atkins (sort of) before I got pregnant. I agree with Sonnet that it is very harsh. However, I lost 14lb over three to four weeks, which was a good kick start for me. After that, and because I am veggie, I tried to just avoid potatoes, rice, bread, pasta, chocolate etc. However, if I really wanted to eat it, or there were no other choice available I would have it. (I worked away a little bit, and some hotels had a terrible menu.) The way I see it is, it is like any other diet, moderation is the key. However, I really did find it worked for me, in the end I lost about 25lb, and then stalled, I had obviously started to eat too many carbs, but by then I was as good as pregnant, and I have to say since being so, my body has craved carbs - pasta and jacket potatoes!
