Re: What's making my body not respond?From: Kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 May 2003 02:48:06 -0500 (CDT)
Do some research on thyroid problems (about.com is a great place for loads of info) and see if you have any other symptoms. My RE said "there is no way in hell you can lose weight with a sluggish thyroid". If you feel suspicious after reading up on the topic, ask your dr. for tests - there are several, some more adept than others, (that is also on about.com). Dr.s don't know if there is a direct correlation, but it seems there are many women with both PCOS and thyroid disease, often the symptoms mimic each other (weight gain, infertility, hair loss, etc.), so it is good to be informed and take the situation into your own hands if need be. I have had a lot of luck losing weight with glucophage XR and thyroid meds. Although, low carbing seems to do little at this point for me. Also, 900 calories a day is way too low, and could be compromising your metabolism. Good luck. Kimberly
