Re: PCOS digest 2643From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 29 May 2003 00:11:48 EDT
Mary, I don't agree with your opinion or suggestion . Like if i were to have a child, i would only be caring about my want instead of hers at the point of risk of having PCOS. But there is nothing that proves she will get it! My mother, my sister, no one in my family had PCOS that i know of. Also, anyone in the world who decided to have a child, has a chance of or is at risk of the child developing or being born with a medical problem. But people have children everyday. Having a child of my own is my hearts desire. And you are suggesting maybe i shouldn't have one or that it might be selfish in a sense???!!!!!! Because that's what i got from your email. I think i have a right just as every other women , to bear my own child....guiltlessly. I consider it a blessing and a miracle and i think women with PCOS deserve that right as well as any other woman. maybe poss my opinion , more. Because some of us ttc , we really desire for it. Some women get preg and dont even want to. Also, Some people even got to the arguement of why not adopt? Well, i am tired of this comment. And to be truthful, we do plan on adopting. Even WHEN we do have our own biological children. But this takes lots of money and it is hard to adopt. It isn't as simple as "why not just adopt?" Like it's buying a car or something. "There are so many children who need homes" is another arguement. Yes, this is true but then why doesn't everyone just adopt and stop bringing more babies into the world if that was the situation. Give the ones who are already here a home to go to. Why shouldn't everyone "Just adopt "? You know, i am sorry but i just took offense to that email. I want a baby and i don't like to have someone trying to make me feel guilty for it. And also, you really think you would rather give up having your daughter than for her to have pcos>? I mean , i dont understand that. I would love to have a daughter. And if my daughter has PCOS. Well, there are medication and things to treat it but at least she gets to have a life and will be love and love others and just be .......alive! I have PCOS and several symptoms but i love life! I am so in love with my husband and i have great friends and a wonderful family. I am loved very much and have great happiness in these things. I would never want to give that up simply because of PCOS. To not have her at all, denying her existance .....that seems selfish to me. But thats my opinion. De
