Re: NEW* If NOT IR what is cause? What do I do??? PLEASE!!From: Chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 26 May 2003 17:41:39 -0500 (CDT)
Khaki, you sound a lot like me. Definitely consider that your estrogen level is not connected to PCOS. (Of course, it is all really connected, but doctors like to keep things neat and organized!) Are you having any menopausal symptoms like fatigue or hot flashes? My estrogen was undetectable, I wore a Climara patch for six or seven months and it "cured" my persistent severe fatigue, hot flashes, and skin crawlies. It also improved my skin. Amazingly, me periods became like clockwork and I got pregnant at the end of my estrogen therapy. (We had been trying for over a year.) I just had a healthy baby, and am waiting to see what my crazy hormones are going to do now. For you I do think Met is probably the lowest-risk option, but I am not convinced it will do anything for your estrogen levels...it took me a loooooong time to find a doc who recognized my estrogen levels were wacky and agreed to put me on HRT, (I am only 28) so if that is a route you want to take, be patient and persistent...what are your LH and FSH levels?
