Thin, PCO, NOT TTC, metformin?

Hi, I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries by ultrasound. My testosterone last time was 67. My estrogen is low. I don't make enough lining to be able to bleed when given progesterone alone. I don't have periods at all on my own. I'm thin-though this is the most I've weighed in 10 yrs. I'm 5' 2 1/2 @ 108, so I look pretty normal. My face feels puffy, hands & stomach too, rings don't fit.

My fasting glucose is usually 75-95. My highest ever was 106 a yr ago. The only time I had my fasting insulin tested (2 yrs ago) it was 2.

I'm also on thyroid meds and finally in good range.

After searching endlessly for the cause of my puffy face, hands, and slow weight gain (6 lbs--I now weigh 108--still thin, but feels it to me). (I'm also treated for hypothyroidism, but my levels are in good range now).I went back to the reproductive endo I had seen 2 yrs ago when we were trying to conceive (we never did). She wants to put me on glucophage 500mg. She's really interested in if this will make me ovulate. I don't care much about getting pregnant anymore.

She also wanted to give me something for the high testosterone. I had never heard of it...starts with a "d" but not dexamethazone. Anyway, I asked what it was & she said "it's like prednisone". I said No. I really don't want any type of steroid. I would almost just like to go back to ocp's. I don't care about pregnancy, (we're waiting to adopt), and I really just want something to keep my testosterone in check. I feel like that might help the fluid retention I've had.

She gave me 500mg metformin 2x/day. What I wondering is--since I'm not TTC, would it be better/easier for me to just do ocp's? That would resuce the testosterone, and the met doesn't, right? Thanks for help & time, khaki
