Re: Is it possible to have a period and NOT Ovulate??From: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 21 May 2003 18:24:31 -0500 (CDT)
Your endo said that because of PCOS you don't have any eggs???? That's a new one on me.... Yes, you can have a period without ovulating. MOST periods do happen because of ovulation but it is possible. Sometimes the lining just builds up and 'overflows' enough for a period and some women I know here have had perfectly 'normal' periods but hormone testing showed they were annovulatory. So that does happen! Fertility monitors are not accurate for many women with PCOS. They test hormones that are usually out of whack in those of us with PCOS. They seem to work OK for some women but many PCOS women find that the monitors say they ALWAYS ovulate when they don't - and so are useless :(
