It is very possible to have a period and not ovulate. My RE said that in the past 6 years since I have been ttc, that I probably have never ovulated, but have had about 10 periods. I have been on Metformin for almost 6 months and have ovulated the last 2 months though. I also have a Clear Plan Fertility Monitor. When I called the customer support number regarding PCOS and it's affect on the test results, I was told that I would probably have to use more than 10 sticks per cycle. And that was pretty much it. So, what I do is...after the Monitor says that I am ovulating, I follow it up with a regular stick.

I thought the whole point in a period was that an egg was not fertilized and it is shedding the uterus. I have always had a what I call a normal period since I started having periods. They may be a few days off, true you can't do a calendar by it, but its basically normal. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. I am 28. I have been on Metformin 2000mg for 2 years as well. My OB/GYN says I ovulate if I have a period. My Endo says I don't have any eggs, cause of the PCOS. So who do I believe??? If I don't have eggs, whats the point in my period and why are they so painful? I will have a super plus tampon in for a few hours and a thick pad and I leak. I will wake up in a pool of blood. That is on my 3rd day, then after that it dies down, 4thday is ok. 5th its GONE, but comes back with a vengence on the 6th day and then GONE for good until basically 28 days later. I took a clear plan fertility monitor test and it said I ovulated. But in the book, it says anyone with PCOS, the results may not be accurate. So I am SO confused. So do I or do I not Ovulate with PCOS and normal periods?
