Hello - I was recently put on Aldactone (50mg 2xday). Let me give you some history. I am a 37 year old female. I have always had heavy, long periods (7 days). I have 2 children - 13 and 4. I had a tubal after my last child. About a year ago my pap was abnormal but since have been okay. When I was a young teenager I had my first ovarian cyst. A few years ago I started having periods every 24 days - on the day! About a year ago they started every 18 - 24 days. Who knows? Anyway, they are heavy with very large clotting. I had an ultrasound - I do have cysts and fibroid tumors (but was told not to worry). Recently, my ob/gyn ran blood test and I was told by the nurse that most came back abnormal. I know they ran a fasting glucose and insulin resistance (?) test. She tried to explain that together the #'s were okay but seperate they weren't. I don't know - I think I've gotten lost in the lingo. I was referred to an Endocrinologist who ran more test. My cortisol levels were in the normal to low range and my testosterone was in the normal-high range. I am now taking Aldactone (50mg 2xday). My ob/gyn nurse asked if they ran a test for Addisons but the Endocrinologist doesn't think things "point" in that direction. Before starting the medication, I have been experiencing headaches, dizziness-sometimes, extreme fatigue, mood swings, my body hurts-legs and arms, and I have always had lots of hair (lower back, arms, side of face, neck etc). Has anyone experienced any of this? What next? I was told to come back, to the Endocrinologist, in September. I've only been taking the Aldactone for 2 days. No changes so far, but I'm probably expecting too much too soon. I don't think I feel like they have really come up with a good answer to my problems. But I am also not a doctor and need some advise from others. Does any of this sound like PCOS? Thanks
