My Dr. told me it had to do with my hypothyroidism. Since they put me on Unithroid, my scalp has almost cleared up. Now the bumps are few and far between. But I too obsessively touch and scratch my head from time to time. Bothers me that I haven't gotten used to this yet. Have you had your thyroid checked? This can affect women and men.
