Re: Just diagnosedFrom: Angela (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 8 May 2003 12:35:02 -0500 (CDT)
I am very similar to you in that I have ALWAYS had normal periods and while I could stand to lose some weight I'm not extremely overweight and don't have any facial acne. However, I have been unable to conceive for 5 years. A month ago my doctor did a Laproscopy for endometriosis and found that I had PCOS. I was shocked and couldn't really believe it. But my doctor said that while I have a normal period there are cases when people still don't ovulate or if they do ovulate it is very late in the cycle causing low progesterone. I do have low progesterone levels at 3 and lutuel phase defect (meaning if I ovulate its late in my cycle) - which is part of the reason I'm having trouble conceiving. That and endometriosis. Anyways, PCOS can effect you because it is causing my ovulation problems and could be the same for you. I am now taking Metformin to regulate my ovulation and I'm taking Clomid as well. He seems to feel pretty optimistic that it will work. I hope that my own experience helps somewhat - good luck!!
