Hi I agree with Row about your doctor telling you that your PCOS went away. Some of us have regular periods. Many of us have children with out the aid of fertility treatments. With dietary changes and for most of us medication (metformin chiefly)PCOS can be controlled, but unfortunately, it is a chronic syndrome. If your doctor doesnt understamd the basics of the problem, which is insulin, maybe it might be worth your while to find another one that does. How about an endocrinologist??? They specailize in insulin disorders. As for metformin, it doesn't really improve ovulation. What it does is make the insulin that you already make work better. You get that system fixed, it hopefully improves all the other stuff connected with PCOS including infertility. Most good doctors treating PCOS keep you on metformin alone for a year before they try clomid. Dont get too worried about the abnormal pap. I know several people that had test show abnormal that are fine.
