Hi,

I was diagnosed with PCOS even though my blood tests came back not showing insulin resistance. She said I was probably still slightly insulin resistant even though it did not show on that test. She suggested I go on a low carbohydrate (not too extreme) and low sugar diet. She said that when carbs and/or sugar enter the body, it triggers the pancreas to make more insulin. PCOS patients already have too much insulin floating around already, so this is not good. The insulin has trouble getting into the cells to convert the sugar to energy, so it is stored as fat instead. This also reaks havoc with the hormone levels. She also suggested exercise. Not in the cardio zone, but just in the fat burning zone for at least 15 minutes a day 4 times a week at least. Exercise also lowers insulin levels.

But.....You can try this but you really should get checked soon after. Insulin Resistance can lead to a lot of irreversable diseases if not treated properly. You may, or may not need meds like Metformin, bc's, anti-androgens, etc. Good luck to you.

Bobbi :)
