Hi,

I am currently doing clomid/IUI. You have a right to make the decision of what you want to do, it is your body. I think, in my opinion, maybe they suggested IUI because of your husbands low sperm count. (My doctor told me that in a semen analysis they like to see 50 to 150 million sperm, and with an IUI they like to see atleast 5 million with 50% mobility, and graded at 2 or better) With IUI ALL of the sperm go into the uterus instead of some dying or not make it with "realtions". As far as the HSG goes, I had one and it was not that painful. I did not get a shot to numb my cervix, the worst part for me was 5 minutes after the test was done, I had mild crampying. The HSG is done to "rule out" any blockage in your tubes as this is the cause of some women's infertility issues. And the worst part of the IUI for me is the speculum going in, I didn't feel the cathiter at all. I hope this has helped you in some way, but remember it is your body and you have the right to make the choice on what you should do first.

Good luck to you,
