I found this when looking in WebMD for info about endometriosis:

"Endometriosis

Cause

The exact cause of endometriosis is not known. Possible explanations include the following:

Menstrual bleeding carries the endometrial cells up and out of the uterus through the fallopian tubes into the abdomen (retrograde menstruation)."

Is this what your doctor was talking about?
