Re: Achy, Insomnia, headacahes-anyone experience these from Demulen 35? or other?

I have been taking Demulen for 2 1/2 years.

During the week I am not on this pill, the week I have my period, I DO experience afternoon headaches and used to get some severe cramping. And come to think of it, I am too a little more jumpy at night.

But by taking Demulen, I got RID of so much. I have no more serious pms symptoms such as major migraine headaches, water retention, constipation, dizziness, fatigue, total body muscle aches, weight gain and so on. I also don't bleed heavy anymore and no longer have blood clots or black dried blood which used to be my norm before. Basically, my body is very happy when I am ON this pill.

So my doctor suggested to me that I change my cycle, making it longer. I usually stay on the Demulen 6 or 7 weeks before I take a week off to get my period, instead of only the usual 3 weeks. Which resulted in only about 4 or 5 days of headahces and NO more cramping. So I get to feel great most of the time.

I also make it a point to do my morning exericse, mostly aerobic, more regularly during my period and this seems to help a lot.

Note that I am also on glucophage, and in my body, glucophage and the pill definitely work together to help me with pcos.

This is my experience. You should definitely talk to your doctor and weigh all your options, and your experiences sound more severe than mine. Be sure to tell your doctor how you feel when you are ON this pill and what positive things it has done for you, if any. Then tell your doctor exactly how you feel when you are OFF it. Ask your doctor if lengthening your cycle may be a help to you in your case. Or if you should go off it altogether. Remember, all drugs usually have some sort of side effects. I have chosen to deal with the headache side effect because dealing with everything else was much worse. But that's my own personal choice.

I hope you find the answer!
