PCOS & TopamaxFrom: AD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 19 Apr 2003 09:15:45 -0500 (CDT)
Wow...it's been awhile since I've been to this board!! Glad to see everyone's still so active here! Question for anyone who may be able to help. I'm 29 dx with PCOS 10+ yrs ago. Only ever treated with bcp (orthocept). Have also always suffered from Migraines...given Midrin to help but found that I could sometimes take Excedrin Migraine & it seemed to do the trick. Recenly (4/9/03) experienced a Migrainous stroke which landed me in the ER. As a result, was given Tegretol...developed broken blood veins all over chest, stomach, etc...something about the way it affects the bone marrow. So, neuro placed me on Topamax. I'm on the 4th day of 25mg. Supposed to work my way up to 100mg over the next 4 weeks. Anyway, day 3 1/2 (last night) developed some breakthrough bleeding...today, we're in full force breakthrough bleeding :-( Has anyone here taken Topamax with bcp or anything else with the bcp to combat these migraious attacks? And, if so, what other side effects did the others have? Any insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much! Alexis
