One Kidney: off Metformin. Blood Clot/PE: off BCP. Now What?!From: Roberta (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 10 Apr 2003 07:43:21 -0500 (CDT)
I have searched this forum for an answer to the above question, but I haven't found anything yet. I was dx'd with PCOS and IR in Oct. 2002, and GYN (herself a survivor of PCOS and IR) put me on Metformin and Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I have lost thirty pounds, have been exercising and have felt wonderful. In the middle of March 2003, I was hospitalized for a small Pulmonary Embolism and a Deep Vein Thrombosis. As if that wasn't enough, my microalbumen urine test was slightly elevated, throwing doubt on Metformin on my congenital one kidney. During my hospitalization, I was taken off both BCP and Met. Now where do I go? I see the GYN tomorrow. Anyone had any experience or can Dr. Sam advise? Thank you so much!
