Help me, please, to find a a new doctor in London, UKFrom: Jovita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 30 Mar 2003 09:10:12 -0600 (CST)
I found this forum a week ago and while reading it I had a feeling how supportive women were here. I appreciate all that so much and do hope I'll get some advise and moral support from you as well... I was diagnosed with PCO(s?)8 years ago (I was 19 then) in my country but doctor did not explain me any single thing at that time (well, I accept that they didn't have much information then...) and put me on the pill; also I was asked to take progesterone, had aloe vera injections and some physioteraphy treatment. I have never had regular periods; my hair all over the body make me depressed and sad (I totally spoilt my mood for all day when my husband "noticed" that I had side burns "as only men have"). I had acne (not very bad though) on my face, shoulders and chest. And one more thing - I feel just exhausted all the time! I'm trying my best - exercising every morning, eating healthily (and not eating after 5 pm but in spite all that my body weight just stays the same; and fatigue wouldn't leave me - sometimes I am asking myself what then I live for if my life is just kind of struggling every single day?... I've been living in London, UK for nearly four years now and only a month ago I visited a doctor. I received my blood test results yesterday - doctor says they are normal and I am "fit and healthy". She tested my LH and FSH (4.1/5.2), glucose (5.8 nmol/l) - just I did not fast-; Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (1.5 mU/l) and Free Thyroxine (143.8 pmol/l). As the results were good, my doctor told me that I had not have PCOS. She was trying to imply that maybe my unhappiness or sadness made me feel exhausted and as for my periods which appear every 40 or 50 days (with severe cramps and pain), she answered: "well, it's just you...". My mood swings make me feel even worse - I feel like becoming upset because of even small things... I read that blood test not always indicates PCOS and even more - if I was diagnosed 8 years ago could it have just dissapeared by now? First of all I decided that I would forget everything and carry on with my "struggling" but I am having second thoughts now. Can anyone tell me where I can apply (I was told that only my local GP can refer me to any kind of specialist)??? I live in Tottenham, North of London, but I would go anywhere in London if only a doctor could see me... I am keeping my faith that someone will reply to me! with best wishes, Jovita
