I may have pcos...??

I recently went to the dr. complaining of pain near what I thought would be my right ovary. They did blood work, which came out 'normal' and an exam which was also apparently 'normal'. I was sent for an ultra-sound. The technitian was in a hurry and would not tell me what she saw. I had to wait for the results to be sent to my dr. Today, she called and read me the report... something like... right ovary is enlarged. multiple cysts. largest of which is 12mm... left ovary: multiple cysts. largest of which is 11mm. no fluid (indicating ruptured ovary or something). that's all it said. the nurse says that sounds 'normal' to her. so i asked if 'multiple cysts' was normal and she says 'well, it common.' so i have an appointment with another dr. on monday.

i have also complained for some time with the following symptoms: fatigue, depression, facial hair, hair loss, anovulation (I do Fertility Awareness Method), anovulatory bleeding, vastly irregular cycles, ance, and this ambiguous pelvic pain, now. i also have a family history of insulin-resistence and am well-aware of the dietary connections. so it sounds a lot like pcos from what i can tell.

i'm 25, married. and frustrated. what i really want to know, and haven't seen addressed anywhere is whether it's at all 'normal' to have 'multiple cysts'? is it that pcos have many more? is it a size thing? anyone have an idea?

i plan to call the radiology clinic tomorrow and ask how many cysts and what their sizes are.

i'd love to be enlightened. meesha
