Re: Menstrual blood clotting,...........help!From: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 11 Mar 2003 09:54:04 -0600 (CST)
I am not sure if this is going to help...I am 30yrs. old now, when I was a teenager I had my period once a year (sometimes every other year), so when I got it- it really made up for it in intensity- huge clots, pain , and such heavy flow I would have to wear 2 pairs of underwear w/ a pad in each and super tampon!!! I went on bc at 18 to help this and it did. Now at 30 I have just experienced it again. Last Friday I went to the doctor for a HEAVY period that has been going on for almost 4 months. (OK- NEVER WAIT THIS LONG!!!!) I became scared after sseeing baseball size clots. I went to the emergency room thinking I would be put on some kind of hormone like they always do and be sent on my way. NO, the Dr became anxious and said i needed an emergency d&c. Within 20 min. an iv was in me and I was in the or getting put to sleep. After I woke up a very wonderful nurse asked me to never wait this long b4 going to the Dr. She said if your period ever becomes different as far as flow, clot size, duration, or color ALWAYS see a DR immediately! So get yourself to the Dr, it may be nothing but at least you will know!!! I also know it is common with pcos to have heavy irregular bleeding but you should always be sure everything is ok! Good Luck!!!!
