PCOS going untreated can eventually make you extremely ill, especially in your late 30's or 40's. I was diagnosed 20 years too late, so I KNOW how SICK a person can get.

For me, the long term effects were: worsening period and ovulation problems, serious long term PMS, weight gain, worsening insulin resistance and hypoglycemia, male pattern baldness, migraine headaches, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia set in, worsening high cholesterol that was not diet or exercise related, heart palpitations; it was awful.

The most popular long term effects I have heard are diabetes and heart disease. And yes, infertility.

Do not ignore PCOS and do not go one single day long without getting it treated. That is my serious advice to you.
