BC PILLS/ GLUCOPHAGE/ CLOMID...ANY SIMILAR STORIES?From: Lodema (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Mar 2003 14:11:15 -0600 (CST)
Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone else has been on the same meds that i'm starting? First of all, I'm 30yrs old and I was told by my current Ob/Gyn that I have PCOS. No tests..I just told him that I previously had blood work done twice and both times said negative! He says he still thinks I have it, even if the tests say I don't. I have had 3 miscarriages (1995, 1996, 2001), have had one live birth (1997, emergency c-section, placenta abrupted), skin tags, missed periods (off and on since my first miscarriage), hypothyroidism (since 1995, on levoxyl), and overweight by about 50 pds. My dr. started me on BC pills (loestrin fe 1/20) last week. He said after I start my period, to start the Glucophage (500mg once a day for 1 week, then 500mg twice a day) then he said after my 3rd month on BC we'll start clomid. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I thought I read that Glucophage makes the BC not work properly. Should we use backup protection right now until we start the Clomid, so we don't get pg while taking BC? I would love to lose weight first, before becoming pg again. I am so scared of having another miscarriage! :( (2 mc were blighted ovums, 1 of them the baby stopped growing at 2months pg) Does Glucophage help w/weight loss and periods? And I've read a little on here about taking meds to help lower the chances of miscarriage? I know my previous dr. put me on some meds when i was 3 months pg, but when we did an ultrasound about 2 weeks later , I already had a blighted ovum (no baby in the womb). Is the reason I'm having MC because of certain levels?? I know they checked my HCG levels last time after he ALREADY couldn't find the baby on the ultrasound.. I've had 3 MC and nobody has really looked into it. This dr. finally seems to want to help! I'm soo confused and scared. Any help w/my questions is soo greatly appreciated! :) Thanks in advance..
