Difficulty Keeping weight downFrom: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 25 Feb 2003 14:02:48 -0600 (CST)
I was diagnosed 2 years ago with PCOS and Type 2 Diabetes. I am 28. I have never been on any birth control nor used condoms. I am only with one man and he is only with me. We are in a VERY committed relationship. I have been on 2000mg of Metformin for 2 years now and have not lost any weight. Actually have gained, (lbs) I have started a gym. When I started the gym I was 5’9 and 322. Now 1 month later I am 324. I have lost 5 inches, but 4 out of those 5 was in my arms. My stomach feels like I am getting larger. I diet other than starving myself, I mean I eat I think good meals, no cookies, no cakes, no chips. Hardly any sugar, my sugar levels stay around 90-130. My grandmother told me 2 weeks ago, that I was getting disgustingly fat. That hurt more that you will ever know. She has not called or wrote to tell me she was sorry. My Dr. told me if I ever got pregnant I would have to get off Metformin and take insulin. Could that be correct? If I did want to get pregnant I would have to take Chlomid to help me ovulate, which is fine. But he thought that this whole time me being on Metformin, I was on some type of birth control. He said that should have helped me ovulate. I have a regular period every month. I don’t call it irregular at all. My PCOS symptoms are Infertility, weight gain around my waist, skin tags, excess facial and body hair. My hair on my head is fine, I don’t have acne. Anyway, My main question is with all the things I do, going to he gym, eating right, and taking Metformin, I still can’t lose any weight. Is it the PCOS that keeps me from losing?? What else can I do? I am so tired of being fat, but I don’t know what else to do.
