Just diagnosed PCOS (sorry for length)From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 12 Feb 2003 11:24:51 -0600 (CST)
Hello everyone, I am Jen, I'm 25, and just found out last week that I have PCOS (right ovary, "borderline" left ovary). Found out through Reproductive specialist, trying to get pregnant. They have not said that this would cause a major problem in my getting pregnant. Anyway, they are starting me on Glucophage tomorrow. My blood tests show that I have low insulin and high testosterone - but I never noticed symptoms. But now that I know what some of the symptoms are, maybe that is why I have acne and excessive hair growth in nether regions, weight gain (about 20 lbs over last 2 years). I was pregnant in 2001, but had a miscarriage and haven't been able to conceive since, that's why I went to the Repro specialist. I also have Panic disorder (severe at times). I've been on 2 different SSRI's (anti-depressants) and 1 BDZ (Ativan) to control them. But they don't work. So the questions I have are: does anyone else have Panic disorder and PCOS? Does anyone know if there is any connection between panic and the hormone imbalance? If anyone has PD and PCOS, have they been treated for the PCOS and the PD lessened or gone away? As far as I know I have had PCOS for at least 4 years (guessing from symptoms), and PD for about the same amount of time. I have always suspected hormones as a cause for the panic (correlation between panic attacks and time of menses), but the docs blew me off when I asked them to check the hormones. I would really appreciate any responses or ideas. Thank you so much, Jen
