Re: Anyone taking Glucophage and is in the same situation as me?From: Nicole (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 11 Feb 2003 11:43:36 -0600 (CST)
Vetta, I am not what you would call thin, but I'm not technically grossly overweight either. I am currently taking 1000 mg/day Glucophage XR. The only other meds I take are a multi-vitamin. The major concerns were excess hair, high DHEA levels, high testosterone, an no period. When I was first diagnosed with PCOS last year, I was put on 500 mg/day of Metformin and my periods regulated immediatly. However I had a horrible reaction to the meds, so they switched me to the XR. This helped alot and I was fine for about 8 months. Then I started to skip periods again and started to gain weight. So about a month ago my dose was upped to 1000. So we are waiting to see how this works. Incidently with just being on the 500 both my testosterone and DHEA levels went down, so they are now slightly elavated, but below the "high" level, so the dr's are very happy. Hope this helps!! Nicole D
