Re: Atkins diet

I've been doing Atkins since mid-November. I'd say that 5 pounds in 8 days is great progress, especially with all the meds!

In the book, Dr.ATkins points out that the amount of weight lost during induction depends on the degree of insulin resistance. So, your rate of loss will be different from someone who is not insulin resistant (I'm assuming you are). I've also found that sometimes when I feel like I'm losing the most (clothes looser, hipbones protruding more), the ketone strips are very, very, very light. So, I'd say they are just a guideline and as long as you keep losing, it's great!

Congratulations and good luck!
