Re: regardng bleeding - longFrom: Jenn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 03 Feb 2003 19:42:57 -0500
As for bleeding, I have bled irregularly for years (I am 29) and I just finally stopped bleeding a few months ago after bleeding for 9 months straight with only 2 days stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow, I was told I have adenomyosis, which is: (Adenomyosis is the presence of endometrial glands and supporting tissues in the muscle of the uterus where it would not occur normally. When the gland tissue grows during the menstrual cycle and then at menses tries to slough, the old tissue and blood cannot escape the uterine muscle and flow out of the cervix as part of normal menses. This trapping of the blood and tissue causes uterine pain in the form of monthly menstrual cramps. It also produces abnormal uterine bleeding when some of the blood finally escapes the muscle resulting in prolonged spotting. It more often occurs in the posterior wall of the uterus.) http://www.wdxcyber.com/dxppn011.htm I didn't have a period for about 3 years, now all of a sudden it's payback time! I got pregnant during this time too. Well, not too much can be done about this, unless I want to have my uterus burned out or removed...or stay on BC pills forever. I would like to have another baby, but if I cant in the next 2 years then I am having everything out. Ovarian cancer is in my family. If you don't need the plumbing, get rid of it I say!!! There quite a few possibilities of why someone may be bleeding. Make sure you get an ultrasound done, even an internal one if you have too!!! Also, don't settle for the pill...its ok for awhile I guess, but not forever. Take care!
