I can't really help you on the getting pregnant with drugs part, but here's what I'm doing: I was about 270 lbs. when I was diagnosed, I tried all sorts of stuff (provera, anti male-hormones...) & 3 endocrinologists... then the 4th endocrinologist I saw tested my insulin levels and found them to be 12 times higher than normal! She stopped all my other meds and gradually started me on Metformin, I've lost 40 lbs, my periods are now regular and I have absolutly no complications. The thing most doctors don't know is that PCOS is caused by insulin resistance, which is why many women with it get diabetes! They treat the symptoms but not the cause... The Metformin reduces the insulin levels and your body slowly goes back to normal, my doctor tells me that once I've lost most of the weight and my system is running normally I have a good chance of being able to get pregnant on my own. The catch is it can take about a year or two to get back to a normal weight (I have about 140 - 150 lbs to lose in total) and you shouldn't get pregnant while taking Metformin as it can be harmful to the baby. The way I see it, I'd rather put off having a baby for another year and get healthy first and haave it naturally.
