suicidal... please helpFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 24 Jan 2003 10:15:57 -0600 (CST)
I hope that I can find a way to read any replies I may get. As this forum , since it's my first time , is a bit confusing. When I was 20 I was diagnosed with pcos. The doctor didn't tell me anything at all except that I should get on the pill. I've been on and off the pill for 8yrs now. Recently I was diagnosed with cervical dysplasia as well. I'm on Orthotricyclene right now. I weighed approx. 270 2 yrs ago. After I started working out and cutting carbs I lost 50lbs and got my periods back. 5 months in a row, ever month, like clockwork. Then out of no where I just couldn't lose anymore, no matter WHAT I did/do. Periods ceased, so I went on bcp's AGAIN. I now have periods fairly regularly. My hair was my one beauty. Thick , long and shiny! My widows peak is so thin you can see through to my scalp and it looks like it's thinning all over. Is this because of the weight loss, the stress, bcp's, having my period on my own without help for months then having it stop/hormonal changes. I told my doctor how concerned I was and she told me... Since I'm on bcp's my hormone levels are normal *even though she did no test to make sure* and that any hair loss I'm having is NOT due to PCOS!! Is that true??? She said that she sees a little hairloss right at my hairline but then the physicians assistant that was with her said she didn't see it at ALL. Also.. because of the cervical dysplasia, taking the pill UPS my chances of developing cervical cancer and if I don'tttt take the pill it UPS my chances of developing ovarian cancer. I do not know what to do!! Please please, someone help me. I do not want to go on rogaine as it says I would have to use it FOREVER to keep the few hairs I would MAYBE grow from not falling out again. Has anyone had their hair thin out due to weight loss or being on the pill? Because if anything my periods are more normal now than ever before and my hair has ALWAYS been thick even when I had no periods at all for a year at a time.. until now Please help me!!
