Hi Claire,

I have noticed your article from Sept. 2000. Thus, I wonder how are you today and whether spiro was the cause of your past condition.

I have experienced similar symptoms after being on Spironolacton for about 2 months. My breast got swollen and very tender.

Because my mother had a mastectomy due to a breast cancer, I decided to find out more about Spiro and my current discomfort, to not voluntarily place myself in danger. As a result, I found an article on the Internet about a spiro research done on mice. The research results showed that spiro was cancerous!!! I have, immediately, stopped taking spiro and called my endocrinologist (who prescribed it to cure my hair loss). She, however, was not aware of this research. Today, a month after I stopped taking spiro, I have pain in the auxiliary (underarm) areas. Recently, I had a sonogram of my breast and underarms but did not reveal the cause. My Doctor wants me to return to spiro but I am not sure whether I should do it before finding out more.

Could you or someone else provide me with more info? Thank you.
