Re: Met & sugar cravingsFrom: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 21 Jan 2003 16:30:09 -0600 (CST)
Sugarholic here... I have read so many reports of met reducing cravings but on it or off, I can eat my way out of a bag of pecan sandies... Two things that might be of relevence... One, I have read of a few women finding their cravings worsening on Met. I'm thinking that PERHAPS this has something to do with an overall improvement in metabolism, and may only be an initial thing? Two, one thing I have found to knock out cravings in a big way is to eliminate caffeine and nutrasweet from my diet. I used to think caffeine was my biggest cuplrit but recently I was doing sooooo well with my eating and exercise and then one day I drank one of those flavored seltzer waters with nutrasweet and bam, I couldn't stay away from sweets and carbs. So if you consume these things try cutting back and see if you notice a difference after 3-4 days - it usually takes that long for me. The best thing of all, of course, is just not to have junkie foods in the house... although it's amazing what I will find to eat when a carb craving hits, despite there being "no food in the house..."
