I don't think that low iron levels are directly a side effect of PCOS, but it's so common among women that lots of us have this problem and don't know it! From what I hear, low iron *definitely* contributes to hair loss and indeed can be a major factor in hair loss. Iron supplements seem to be a good solution though - next time you bring this up with your doctor, ask them about it!
