Re: preteen daughter has pcos???From: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 11 Jan 2003 10:02:13 -0600 (CST)
Hairloss was one of my first signs of PCOS, I started losing my hair at 9 and it got gradually worse until I was in my 20's. If you think your daughter has PCOS, I can't stress enough that you SHOULD get her in to see a good endocrinologost and SHOULD NOT treat her on your own, especially with natural progesterone cream. It's not a good time, with all her hormones changing, to add anything without thoroughly consulting a doctor. There is a lot of discussion as well about the usefulness and safety of natural creams, you never know what is in there as they're not regulated. For an adult, it's one thing, as our bodies are bigger and can handle it a little more, but definitely not for someone that age whose body is adjusting to hormones anyway. If she has PCOS, she needs real treatment to stop the symptoms and protect her health! It would be wonderful, if she has it, to find out so early and be able to start treating it right away.
