generic metformin and Glucophage UKFrom: anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 10 Jan 2003 03:08:09 -0600 (CST)
I've just been reading these messages on generic met not working too well apparently for many of those who've recently switched. So I'm wanting to try Glucophage first just in case. However, assuming if I manage to finally get my met presription, how do I do this? I am in the UK, getting my drugs on the NHS so far, and the pharmacies tend to automatically give you the generic if there is one available. Those of you in the UK taking metformin, what kind are you taking? How's it working out? Have you ever switched? Any info would be helpful. Is it possible to 'demand' the generic? (If I try this, after disturbing my pharmacist by getting my finasteride filled there, which came after having a long discussion about whether or not they would 'let' me buy the rogaine 5% also for men, she is going to hide when she sees me coming) Perhaps the only option is to try the generic, and if that's not so great, try to find glucophage on the net. Or perhaps I could wangle getting the slow release.
