Hilary, I think you should definetly see another doctor about your symptoms. I had suffered from severe pain in my abdomen since I was 11. I bounced around from doctor to test, back to the doctor, to more test. In the end my doctor said he didn't know what was wrong, and even tried to give me medication to help with the pain. Since he didn't know what my pain was from I decided not to take the pills he gave me, and I am glad that I did. My pain finally stopped when I was about 15, but I still had the 40+day cycles, depression, weight, and a few of the other symptoms. My husband and I got pregnant in 2000, but it ended up in a miscarriage. I still didn't know about my PCOS, but I was devistated about the loss of my baby. A year or so later, I went to my doctor because I was craving sugar so badly and nothing would curb them. She gave me the test for insulin resistance, and found out that I had it. I was told that it was from PCOS, and not knowing what it was called my OB-GYN to ask her about it. I was then told from my OB-GYN that she knew about me having PCOS and that my miscarriage was a result from it. She told me that she when I was having my ultrasound to see if my pregnancy was viable, she saw small cysts all over my ovary. I was not told of this, even though she thinks to this day that she told me about it. We have to realize, that even though our doctors may have to best intentions, and may think they know it all, that they are human, and make mistakes. They see many patients every day, so I or you are not their top priority. We need to be active in our healthcare, and when we feel they have made a mistake, look to another physican. They are providing us with a service, and they need to meet our expectations, or else we need to move on. Feel free to email me if you have any questions, or just need some support. I am only 25 and look forward to motherhood, but I know that I have to actively find healthcare and providers that will also take and active role helping me. Go out there and help yourself. I would recommend a Nurse Practioner. They tend to take more time and reffer patients faster when they don't know how to treat you. Amber At Tue, 31 Dec 2002, Sheri wrote: >
