Re: QUESTION PELVIC PAIN-SonnetFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 31 Dec 2002 07:22:28 -0800 (PST)
Good morning Sonnet, In answer to your questions yes it sure seems like a lot of women have both but I don't have an exact figure on that. I have asked this a few times on several endo boards and even here what the deal is on the connection between PCOS and Endo. Unfortunately it's not that clear as of yet. I know that I didn't start having problems with PCOS until I was in my 20s at least that I know of. The Endo however I know goes back to when I was about 16 years old b/c of all the problems I was having with my periods. It could very well be possible that there is a strong connection between the two b/c one of the symptoms that can sometimes occur with Endo is irregular periods, not just the usual heavy periods. Maybe we need to take an informal poll here to find out about how many women have both Endo and PCOS at the same time. I know that Victoria has a list on Yahoogroups for women that have both PCOS and Endo. And I created a list for women that have one or more of the following: Endometriosis, Vulvodynia, and PCOS. I'll ask EA and even the ERC (another organization that relates to Endo) about this as well to see what they come up with. I'll let you know what I find out. What I do know is that in the time before I was diagnosed with Endo I had a ton of pelvic pain too and the endocrinologist thought that it might be related to the PCOS but in Aug of 1997 we found out otherwise. It's a very good question and glad that you brought it up. If you have an idea, can you tell me about how many members of the PCOSA have Endo in addition to the PCOS? You can e-mail this to me privately if you want to. I hope you are doing well today. ===== Kristy :) http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html For women who are interested in additional support http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Endo_Vulvodynia_PCOS/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Zoladexforendometriosis/ I am a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences.
