Why do PCOS women, NOT ovulate?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 23 Dec 2002 11:08:38 -0600 (CST)
I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago. I have been on Glocophage 2000mg a day for 2 years and Spirolactone 200mg a day for little over 2 years. I personally don't see how either one help. I have not lost any weight, my dark hairs on my chin and side burns are still there and I am still not pregnant. I know I can take Chomid and it help me ovulate. But what I don't get is, why is it I have had a normal period for 15 years now, it may be a few days late or a few days early, but to me very normal. But it does get VERY painful, I also at times bleed heavly and pass huge blood clots. Why is it PCOS'rs don't ovulate? Why have a painful period every month, if you don't ovulate? I thought the whole point was to have a period, cause the egg was not fertilized. How can I have a period and I have no eggs to fertilize??? My drs are morons, I hate speaking to them on anything. I have a OB/GYN and a RE. I can't stand either one of them. I have no one to ask about these questions. Mostly what I have learned about PCOS is by my own research.
