Re: I want to try glucophage...From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 19 Dec 2002 15:37:18 -0600 (CST)
Some of the IR type symptoms that went away when I started it, started to come back a bit later on, and increasing my glucophage dosage didn't help. That's why my doctor thinks there may be something actually causing the insulin/glucose imbalance to begin with, rather than IR being the top problem. He said it might be excess cortisol which he said can happen in women with pcos. So I took the test for it a couple days ago and waiting for the results. If it's not cortisol, then it's something else. Also, my IR did not show up on the fasting test, but did show up very borderline on the after breakfast test. Insulin resistance can be a big factor in causing pcos, even if it's mild, but I am finding out through this new doctor I am seeing that there can be other factors actually causing the insulin resistance. This is all news to me, a big surprise. I am glad I found this doctor. He is very thorough and is doing a number of tests on me, insisting he's going to find the problem.
