Re: BAD side affects from Metformin. Need help! From: Sonnet (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Dec 2002 17:44:07 -0600 (CST)
Metformin is a drug that uauslly works very well for PCOS, but it's a hard one to get used to too! I know some women can't tolerate it at all, and many have to work up to their dose very VERY slowly. Over several months slowly. What about other insulin sensitizers, like Avandia or Actos? Or there's the idea of treating some of the hormonal stuff with spironalactone (it messes up your periods but will help with facial hair and acne) and treating your body with a low carb diet. You do have options. It does sound like you really need a new doctor though - maybe it's time for an endocrinologist?
