Help, nothing I try works. What is the next step??????From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 10 Dec 2002 06:21:58 -0600 (CST)
I got off of birth control July 2001, so that I could conceive. However, I did not get a period. I called my doctor, and they said to wait 3 months because it might be an effect of stopping birth control. After 3 months, still nothing, so I made an appointment. My GYN said that it can sometimes take a year for me to get a period after stopping the pill. So, she gave me provera to take for 10 days, so that I would get a period. She said that it might jump start my period on my own the next month. If not, then I was instructed to try provera again. This continued for 3 months also, with no luck. I was only able to bleed with the provera, and of course did not ovulate, so could not get pregnant. I called my doctor again, and was told to wait a couple more months, because I was told again, that it could take a year for me to get a period on my own again. So I waited, until July 2002, and called again. They brought me in and did a sonogram(I think), to check for cysts, but found nothing. The doctor gave me provera again, and instructed me to take Clomid on day 5 of my fake period. This was to follow for three months. Again, after, more disappointing negative pregnancy tests, I still ceased ovulate, even using Clomid. So, I called my doctor, and she said that she tested my blood, and believes I have PCOS. She suggested I try Metformin, to see if that will make me ovulate and get a period. Again, she said to try it for 3 months. Well, It has been 2 and a half months of Metformin, and still nothing. I am getting depressed, and almost ready to even stop trying to get pregnant. It seems that I will never get pregnant. I am only 23, and should not be having these problems. It seems like the docors don't even want to help me because they really don't want to give me any fertility treatment. What should I do now. I was just curious if maybe there are others here who have experience my same problems, and can tell me my next step, and If you think there is a chance of me conceiving some time soon.
