BAD side affects from Metformin. Need help! From: Jennifer (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 9 Dec 2002 21:01:47 -0600 (CST)
I was diagnosed with PCOS in September. My Dr. put me on metformin and within a week I was so exhausted I could hardly drive to work in the mornings, had terrible pain around the bottom of my rib cage, and also had a complete loss of energy. I could not walk from one end of the mall to the other without getting out of breath and having to sit down. The Dr. took me off of it and things have gotten better so far as those symptoms (I still have some pain in the rib cage area) but the PCOS symptoms are worse than ever. My hormones are a mess, my periods come and go as they please and I constantly feel like I am pms'ing. I am always hungry and I just keep gaining more and more weight. The dr. does not really know what else to do with me. He put me on progesterin for the next 3 months just to see if he can get my cycles back on track. I would appreciate learning about any alternative treatments or any advice anyone can offer. I am very frusterated. Thank you.
