Re: Anxious about the pill...

I didn't deny that blood clots can happen. They can. But I stand by my statement that the chances of them happening are very small. I really don't think fear of major side effects should keep a person from trying the BCP if she WANTS to. The chances exist, but you are far more likely to suffer an annoying but manageable side effect, or no side effects.

(I will admit, of course, that this is coming from the mouth, or rather fingers, of someone who is scared to death of flying, because the engines might fail, the wing might fall off, a terrorist may take over the plane, or someone with a shoulder missile might attack from the outside. Everyone tells me these things are unlikely to happen, and part of me knows they are. But I still avoid flying as much as possible, and will be heavily sedated when I fly at the end of this month...)

So I won't say a person isn't entitled to their fears, with regard to birth control pills and major side effects. But, all the same, I think the odds are very much against a given person having them. The odds being against something happening, unfortuneately, doesn't make it impossible.
