Hi I read jodi's reply and agree that I have nerver heard of bcps leading to blindness. However, I am living proof that you most certainly get a bloodclot from bcps. I had a pulmonary embolism in 1995. It was 100% caused by birth control pills. I also want to mention that if you smoke (and I dont) this also increases your risks. BCPs do not treat pcos, they merely mask the symptoms. If you insullin resistant glucophase helps with treating pcos, as well as a lower (not crazy Atkins lower) carb diet. Eliminating processed grains, white bread, white rice and white pasta has helped me alot. I do eat whole wheat pastas and breads when I have carbs. I just dont go crazy on the amounts. Everyone must weigh the need for birth control with the risks involved. My Dr. never even mentioned bloodclots as a side effect. I say this primarily so the you can make an informed decision. If it could happen to me it can happen to you . Janet
