No medication - right way to go?

Diagnosed at 14 (now 36) and although I needed help to conceive have coped OK with my symptoms - hair removal, weight battles, deep voice.

Have a new Doctor who now wants to send me to an endocrinologist and I'm wondering what are the long term effects of not taking medication.

I'm scared to take anything as I have been reading up and the side-effects sound scary and I quite like not ever having a period !!

Am I being short-sighted?
