Re: Metformin for Non-Insulin Resistant

If you are on Met for pcos, chances are you have insulin resistance whether or not it shows up on tests. Most likely, you have insulin resistance, which caused the pcos. Getting the insulin under control helps heal the pcos and then helps the body function more normally. Insulin resistance is a disorder. A disorder means the body does not function properly on it's own. There is no cure, but only maintenance. Met is a lifelong way to control your insulin/blood sugar levels and prevent further insulin damage in the future which can be serious. I would be very wary of any doctor who told me to take it and then stop at pregnancy.
