Hey Jill
I seem to have a thing for replying to newbies and I always seem to say
the same darn things. Read this last such post of mine, it can probably
help a little:
http://forums.obgyn.net/pcos/PCOS.0211/0522.html
(Hope that link works) (don't know if it will be useful at all, hope it
is a little!)
After (or without) reading that, I will say that a good online link for
reading on this is:
http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/nov16/kidson/kidson.html#suba0
There used to be a site by a Dr. Charles Glueck that was very good ...
but I can't seem to get it to work today.
As for not being IR, there are women who are not IR who are being
treated with glucophage with success. Some say if PCOS is present, IR
is present... even if the labs don't indicate it. Maybe what's normal
for the lab isn't normal for your body.
Women with PCOS can also have adrenal problems, you need to find out if
that is your cause.
Basically you need to find a good doctor knowledgable in PCOS, and they
can be a challenge to come by. If you are having trouble, you might
want to say where you live and maybe someone here can help you.
As for the sex thing... exactly what sort of pain do you mean? Is it a
dryness pain? Or something else? There's a lot of ways to have pain down
there... and a lot of different reasons!
FInally I would suggest you check out the soulcysters.com site, there
are discussion boards there and... not to dis this place, but there
seems to be a lot more action over there. :-)
Hope to have helped a little... in sumarry, read read read and find a
good doctor!
Yes there is a point in seeing a specialist. More can be done for PCOS
now than at any other point in history, yay!
